MARMOMACC AND ARCHMARATHON

Abalo Alonso Arquitectos, Kaan Architecten and Maroun Lahoud Architecte are the finalists who will compete in the Best Stone Project, the new category in the Archmarathon Awards set up to promote and valorise the use of natural stone materials in architecture.
The projects by these three international studios were selected by a jury comprising Simona Finessi, Craig Copeland and Pietro Carlo Pellegrini from a shortlist of 20 candidates during the castings held on Friday, 30 September and Saturday, 1 October during the Marmomacc 2016.
These are the motivations: ABALO ALONSO ARQUITECTOS - "Health Center" Project-A manifesto of natural stone, a project perfectly integrated into the regional context while respecting the work of quarrying stone.
KAAN ARCHITECTEN - "Supreme Court of the Netherlands Project -A symbolic building for Europe that retrieves the past by displaying bronze statues and integrates contemporary architecture through the special quality of the interiors on the upper floors.
MAROUN LAHOUD ARCHITECTE -"St. Elie Church" Project
An important architectural landmark for what it represents, narrated through the stone carried by parishioners and recovered from the ruins alongside integration with new stone materials upholding the nature of this gift.
The three projects will now compete for the Archmarathon Award in the Stone category during Archmarathon 2018 scheduled in Milan.
Thanks to this important collaboration agreement, Marmomacc further strengthens its bond with the world of designers, architects and interior designers and demonstrates once again its vocation in combining business events with opportunities for training and knowledge for companies and professionals in this sector.
