Aiming to suggest a different interpretation to the traditional "fair" concept, a new and attractive event conceived to bring  Carrara and its marble to the attention of the general public, national and international, Carrara and its stone companies will wear their best dress to welcome international buyers, architects, designers, professionals and journalists of the stone sector from 10 to 18 June, 2017. This  event aims to shape a more contemporary idea of the worldwide renowned Carrara marble trade show by replacing it with an exceptional tour across  Carrara downtown.

 

According to IMM new management, Carrara does not necessarily need a trade fair setting inside the pavilions of Carrara Fiere  because Carrara is itself an immense natural exhibition: a stage where marble is the main character all year round, where the store houses of stone companies are the pavilions, and the quarries the natural extension of stone houses.

 

With expertise in the field, the role of IMM will be to make this new vision possible, making sure to accurately trace the relation between quarries, factories and territory through the organization of the visit  of top level foreign buyers selected by IMM in co-operation with foreign trade associations, Italian Chamber of Commerce abroad, specialized recruiters. 

The programme of the activities  will mostly focus on stone company/stone processing plant/stone factory visits;  targeted quarry tours and  B2B meetings between Carrara stone companies and international buyers. To complete the programme, a range of technical seminars will be organized for buyers with updated information on the most crucial topics that respond to the current needs of the stone industry. 

 

Topics proposed to be discussed are external stone cladding, installation techniques and anchoring systems, stone sandwiches: product features, production cycle and architectural applications; 3D technology  on stone surface finishes for architects and the multi-wire gang saw: performances and  machine management; the new blade frame to modify the granite gang saw; stone blocks and slabs reinforcement by resin line; the technical treatment and the product features; cutting-edge tools for slab polishing; brushes and resin bond abrasives; quarrying techniques and last generation technology; 3D scanners and  artistic process by robot techniques for stone company owners, managers and technicians. 

By joining the programme of "White Carrara A Downtown" stone entrepreneurs can have access to significant business opportunities to be further developed with Carrara stone companies, while the entire town will benefit from the great appeal of the event, in line with a broader territorial marketing perspective: from 10 to 18 June, Carrara downtown will be embellished with marble installations, art events, concerts, shows, food & wine tours, so that every corner of the town will shine with a brand new glamour, under the sign of the timeless beauty of white marble. That explains the reason for the title chosen for the event: "White Carrara Downtown".

 

Programme

Day 1: Arrival in the morning at Pisa Airport.  A transfer service for Carrara will be arranged in the afternoon (time to be defined according to the flight schedule of buyers).

Day 2: Welcome speeches at IMM Headquarters, Seminar (topic to be identified), B2B meetings at IMM Headquarters, Visit to IMM facilities (Stone Library and Stone Lab); Visit to Carrara stone companies (after lunch) and   Visit Carrara Downtown Show (after dinner).

Day 3: Visit to  Carrara marble quarries, visit to a sculpture workshop equipped with robots; Visit to Carrara companies (after lunch)  and  visit to  Carrara Downtown Show(after dinner)

Day 4: Visit to Carrara stone companies; B2B meetings at IMM Headquarters and Departure after lunch

 

The visit of Indian buyers for  purchase of marble blocks, slabs, tiles and artefacts during White Carrara Downtown shall be really exciting.  It would be a unique experience for Indian importers.
